I recommend you always getting my releases of my uploads in the forums above, because sometimes I release fixes or re-launch some games that have problems. If you get my uploads you'll be sure of having the latest releases. Additionally, you'll get the original package, not images made from discs, so you'll be sure that nothing is corrupted. =================================================================================================== ------------------------------ Resident Evil 2 *REPACK* (PAL) ------------------------------ Ripped: Nothing. Downsampled: Nothing. Source: GD dump. I could save a lot of space re-linking redundant files, so I didn't have to downsample anything like in my other release. Enjoy full quality media. This game, like a lot others, keep checking the start of the second session when loading files. It results in slower loading times and more reader movement. In non-CDDA games, I can easily "fix" it by moving the last session start with 2 data sessions. In CDDA games, however, I had no control over it. Fortunately I was able to merge a data track with the audio tracks, moving the session start as I wish. It's a great step optimizing games, and it will help me a lot in future CDDA releases. Expect a great performance increase in this game thanks to this new technique. Enjoy this super ol... classic game. Features of my release: - Not corrupted files at all, it was made with GD dump files. - Used custom DCRES optimization techniques. It means faster loadings and less Dreamcast reader noise. - Selfboot. About the game: - It has VGA Box support. Other comments: - "Extras" folder in the pack contains some useless stuff. - Release comes with manual and covers. ===================== OLDER RELEASE README: ===================== Resident Evil 2 (PAL) ------------------------------------------ Dreamcast Resurrection - 2009 (since 2008) Check for more releases at these forums: snesorama.us (all releases) segahub.org (recent releases) dreamcast-talk.com (recent releases) ------------------------------------------- Ripped: Nothing. Downsampled: Videos downsampled. Source: GD dump. Note that this release was made with the european version, but it has 50/60hz select screen and works wonderful on the american console. It works fine with VGA Box too. This game was the first one where I used VBR (variable bitrate) on videos, what means better quality than stardard CBR (constant) downsampling. I compared the original videos with the downsampled ones and I couldn't notice any difference (yes, the original videos have crap quality too). I let the sound of the videos untouched, it was already bad enough (22khz? Bad). Other files are intact. I made some little changes in GD file order, but the original one was already nicely optimized. For some reason, this game has two short CDDA tracks that I have no idea where they play. I took a look on Kalisto's release, and used their layout to burn CDDA tracks, so they must play nice. Have fun. Features of my release: - Not corrupted files at all, it was made with GD dump files. - Videos with higher quality than other releases. - Used same file order of the GD, that was slighty optimized later. It means faster loadings and less Dreamcast's reader noise. - Selfboot. About the game: - It has VGA Box support. Other comments: - "Extras" folder in the pack contains some useless stuff. - Release comes with manual and covers.
